Answer
Where does a value in a meeting tracker come from?
For anyone who needs to show where a figure or date in a table came from: what a TrackHeros tracker records with every value taken from a Google Meet or Microsoft Teams meeting, how to get from a cell to the moment it was said, how a cell's history reads, and how values typed by hand are marked.

A table is only as useful as your ability to defend what is in it. This answer is for freelancers and consultants who get asked "where did that figure come from?" by a client, a colleague or themselves, and whose meetings happen on Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. In a TrackHeros tracker every value answers that question on its own; the feature is on trackers.
What does a tracker record with each value?
Four things: the meeting it came from, who said it, when in the meeting they said it, and the words they used. Those travel with the value into the cell's history and stay there when a later meeting changes it.
| Recorded | Example |
|---|---|
| Meeting | Weekly call with Client A, Tuesday 10 March 2026 |
| Speaker | Priya |
| Moment | 14:32 into the call |
| Words | "Let's say the second of April and hold it." |
The words are rebuilt from the stored transcript. The model only points at the lines, and never writes the quote, so what you read is what the transcript holds.
How do I get from a value to the moment it was said?
Open the cell's history and follow the link on the value. It opens the meeting's transcript at that moment, and the recording jumps to the same point, so you can hear the sentence in context rather than trust a summary of it.
It works the other way round too. Each meeting's page has a "What changed" panel listing what that meeting gave each tracker, so after a call you can see which cells it filled or moved.
How do I see how a value changed over time?
Every cell keeps its history. A go-live date that went from 3 March to 17 March to 2 April shows all three, each with its meeting, speaker and quote, and the current one marked.
Some entries carry a label. A value said again in a later meeting is recorded as a confirmation, not a change, and a value from an older meeting that was read after a newer one is kept in the history as older, without replacing the current value. The full history can be downloaded as a CSV file that opens in Excel or Google Sheets; pricing says which plans include export. Reading a history well is the subject of a history of every change, with the quote.
What about values typed by hand?
They are marked as set by the person who typed them, so a hand edit is never mistaken for something a meeting said. An edited cell is also protected: a later meeting's change to it goes to review instead of replacing your value.
Editing, adding rows and restoring older values are covered in can I edit a tracker cell by hand?
Can the assistant cite tracker values too?
Yes. Asked "what salary did each candidate ask for this month?", the assistant answers from the tracker and names the meeting each value came from.
Each meeting it names can be opened from the answer; who said the value, and the words used, are in the cell's history on the tracker. More on asking your meetings, and on why a tracker leaves a cell empty rather than guess, in does a meeting tracker guess values nobody said?
